What is an Eating Disorder?

An eating disorder is where you control how you are feeling with food. If you are not hungry and you hear upsetting, or happy news then the urge to remove how you are feeling is very strong.

My story to You.

I used to go into the kitchen and just eat whatever I found and day dreamed. I found that I could not stop eating at the time I was doing this.

When I was younger I did not like the way I looked and so I starved myself and ate only vegetables. I weighted myself every day and I was not healthy.

You might be doing the same without realizing it. I have done this, and it is very hard to come to terms with the fact this is not healthy for you to hide your feeling because you are damaging your body. You are mistreating yourself.

Eating disorder: Sexual Abuse.

People who have been sexually abused are most likely to have an eating disorder whether they are anorexic (eating too little and being sick) or bulimic (eating too much - and being sick).

You might be feeling that do not like how you are looking and do not see yourself the way you truly are. The abuse damaged the way you look at yourself because you do not like yourself. God and Jesus loves you inside and outside and he knows what you are going through.

Being abused can make you have a different image of yourself e.g. you may be a normal size but feel huge or you may feel exactly the opposite this is one of the reasons you may be anorexic or bulimic.

Note: It does not matter how old you are because you can recover whatever your age.

Here is some help for you to overcome how you feel towards yourself.

Eating Disorder help: Food

It is important to eat regular meals three times a day because you can also use food to control how you feel.

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Supper

Having regular meals stops you having the option to control them. Controlling your food will not help you at all it just controls how you are feeling and is not healthy so stick to regular meals.

And are you drinking plenty of water, tea, plenty of fluid?Exercise is also good to help relax and feel good about yourself. Never over do things.

Eating Disorder Help: Mood Swings

I know my moods used to change when I a binged and I still need to really control my food otherwise I will make myself terribly ill. My children need me to be well, and I am sure that your family want you to be well too.

If you have children, they want you to be healthy. Having mood swings is not nice for your friends or your partner because they will not have a clue what is wrong or what they have done to you (nothing). I have been moody with my husband for no reason and it upsets him.

Eating Disorder Help: Mood Swings

To help get over an eating disorder I suggest you get a pen and paper and write how you are feeling and each time you have an attack of disparate food instead of hurting yourself get a piece of paper and write down how you are feeling, and if you want to keep it a secret then that is work.

I know that you might be feeling that this subject is very sensitive, and it is, so take each stage slowly. When you have been hurt so much, it is very hard to overcome having a food disorder, but in time with God and Jesus you can.

You really need to look at yourself and like you inside and outside because I am sure you are a lovely person. God and Jesus love you and that is very important. Make sure no one tells you how fat or thin you are because when I was younger that is exactly what happened to me and I lost to much weight.

Today I am trying my best to eat properly because for health reasons I do need to loose weight but slowly. I don't know if you have a problem with what you look like in clothes because I do.

I have had three children and I need to lose the weight and because I did not like how I looked I hid my body in huge clothes have you done that?

Eating Disorder Help: Loosing and Gaining weight

An eating disorder may make you loose or gain weight depending on how you are feeling. Each time I lost weight I felt happy but then I binged because I could not handle feeling good about myself.

You might be feeling the same if you need to lose weight. If you need to put weight on because if you don't eat food well you must try and enjoy something and get guidance from a doctor. Find someone you trust, who can help you to feel great about yourself.

God and Jesus knows how you are feeling, and there are a lot of people like you who have been abused and feel terrible about themselves and food is your only comfort. Why not find a teddy, or something you can cuddle when you are feeling bad.

Talk to God and Jesus about how you are feeling and do not give up because you are a very special person.
